6th Grade Art: Watercolor Flower Paintings - #Penntastic

Watercolor Flower Paintings: For this project students chose a variety of flowers to draw using step by step instructions to learn how to draw them. Students then added an organic natural background to their flower as well as other supporting details. Finally, students finished their drawings by adding color using watercolor. These flower paintings turned out great!

6th Grade Art: Scratch Art Animal Portraits - #Penntastic

Scratch Art Animal Portraits: For this project the students created a scratch art etching using the element of art called texture. To create the scratch board students applied several colors of crayon to a heavy weight piece of drawing paper. When they finished coloring they will covered the surface with a black paint mixed with dish soap. To complete the project students created a drawing on the top of the surface that focused on texture. The drawing was then etched away with a needle tool to review the color below the surface.

8th Grade Art: Book Spine Mural Project - #Penntastic


Book Spine Mural Project: Each student has participated to help create a collaborative mural for the English Language Arts (ELA) department. For this project students have researched, designed and created an original book spine that includes a title, author and symbolic image. Students painted their book
spines and submitted to be laminated before placing them in the mural.

8th Grade Art: Pointillism Landscapes

Pointillism Landscapes: For this project students explored pointillism by creating an image made entirely from a series of small dots. Students created a scene or landscape like those created by Georges Seurat and Incorporate depth and space by including a foreground, middle-ground, and background into their scene. Students also, Included a focal point of interest (main subject) into their scene.

8th Grade Art: Paper Mache Venetian Masks

Paper Mache Venetian Masks: For this lesson students are creating a Venetian Mask using paper mache adorned with decorations made from paper, paint and found objects. For this project, students use a plastic form to create the mask shape. Students add two to three layers of heavy weight paper (Paper grocery bags work best). Students then use colored construction paper to create additional designs that lay flat on the mask. Finally, students use paint to apply simple symbols and shapes on top of their mask and add found objects such as feathers, beads, and string to add additional interest.
